The Democratic Republic of Congo is at a critical turning point: while conflicts persist in the east of the country, the relaunch of oil and gas block auctions risks worsening instability and jeopardizing the country’s environmental commitments. In response to this threat, the Notre Terre Sans Pétrole coalition has sent a letter to President Félix Tshisekedi, calling for the immediate halt of these projects and the termination of ongoing negotiations with the Russian government.

A copy was also sent to Presidents João Lourenço (Angola), Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), and William Ruto (Kenya), as well as former heads of state Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria), and Hailemariam Desalegn (Ethiopia), who have been appointed as facilitators of the peace talks in the DRC.
